The Chairman of the Northern Province Road Passenger Transport Authority, Engineer S. Vimaleswaran, has ordered a two days suspension for a private bus driver who was involved in a dispute with a driver of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) at the Kilinochchi Bus Stand.
The incident recently took place at the Kilinochchi Bus Stand. The private bus driver involved was operating a bus traveling from Viswamadu to Vavuniya. Following a complaint received regarding the incident, the Authority took prompt action.
A special inquiry into the matter was conducted recently. During the investigation, it was confirmed that the bus driver had been involved in the dispute. Consequently, the Chairman of the Authority ordered that the driver be suspended from service for two days.
In addition, the bus owner has been warned that if similar incidents occur in the future, the route permit may be suspended.
The Northern Province Road Passenger Transport Authority has also requested the public to report without hesitation any unsafe situations, violations of road transport regulations, or inappropriate conduct by drivers and conductors observed during public transportation services.
